The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The Devil Wears Prada is such an enticing title for a movie. It’s based on the best-selling book by Lauren Weisberger who experienced the fashion magazine industry up close.

Her protagonist is Andy, (ANNE HATHAWAY), who’s just graduated as a journalist but finds herself being a lowly assistant to the devil herself, Miranda Priestly, (MERYL STREEP), the editor of RUNWAY.

Andy’s transformation from frump to style queen is aided and abetted by the magazine’s design chief Nigel, (STANLEY TUCCI).

But as Andy gets literally sucked into Miranda’s aura, catering to every unreasonable demand 24/7, her private life with boyfriend Nate, (ADRIAN GRANIER), takes a dive.

This delicious concoction is almost pure entertainment. Meryl Streep’s humanising portrayal of a woman at the top of her game who has to scheme and fight hard to stay there is about as deep as it gets.

The young stars, Anne Hathaway and Adrian Grenier have eyes to drown in, but it’s Emily Blunt’s scene-stealing performance as Andy’s co-worker that impresses. But they’re all good, Stanley Tucci as well.

Directed with energy and intelligence by David Frankel who’s worked mainly in television The Devil Wears Prada is a stylish concoction.

This movie clearly shown every young girls dream work about working and develop career in a fashion industry.  This is the best movie I like the most.
