Django Unchained [2012]

Django Unchained

Django Unchained ticks all of the boxes in regards to what constitutes a good film as far as I'm concerned. It carries Quentin Tarantino's characteristic style and evokes memories of his past works of art such as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs in its execution. It has the trademark Tarantino violence and gore, and similarly does not miss out in terms of the narrative as the story line is interesting and original. Furthermore, it features a cast of familiar faces who play memorable characters. Whilst it deals with the serious themes of racism and slavery, it does not lack the classic Tarantino absurdities which provide a hint of comic relief where it is much needed.

On the whole, Django Unchained is both entertaining and stylistically impressive and definitely a worthwhile film to see.
